Review

Rating: 10

A 30 year old book about software development 40 years ago - and still no silver bullet in sight?

Brooks has created a classic. Many anecdotes and accurate observations show that software developers didn’t change the last century. Brooks recognizes problems (scaling of communication, correlation of quality and productivity) and proposes solutions that are addressed in today’s agile methodologies.

An interesting extra is the discussion of the “silver bullet”, which increases productivity of software development by an order of magnitude. Brooks predicted (30 years ago) that we should not expect a silver bullet for the next 20 years.
